Is it possible to find a new match (rematch) during an au pair stay?
Due to the high number of users on the AuPairWorld platform, it is generally possible to find another host family or au pair at short notice.
My host family has kicked me out of the house. What should I do?
First of all, think about what you would like to do: stay in your host country and change families? Go to another host country with another family? Or go back home?
Option A - I would like to change host families:
- Stay calm: consider the available options, such as staying at a friend's house or finding a hostel.
- Search for a new family: update your profile or register again. Include your current location and availability in your texts. Check your EasyFind to find family profiles that match you.
- Inform the Immigration authorities of your situation, especially if you are in the country on a visa, and notify them that you have terminated your au pair contract. They will guide you through the next steps, including the process of registering with a new family.
- Contact us to tell us about your experience, once you have found a new family and feel more at ease, either through the contact form or by using the “Report profile” option.
Option B - I would like to go back home
Look for cheap flights online. If you're staying a couple of extra days in the country, ask a friend if you can stay with them or find a hostel. If you don't have enough money to buy your return ticket, contact the embassy. They are obliged to help you. Ask if they can lend you the money for your return journey.
AuPairWorld’s advice: Whatever you decide, don’t feel guilty. Many times, luck comes with your second attempt. Take a look at the au pair experiences section. Consider this the beginning of a new chapter. Remember the saying: "It’s not about falling, but about knowing how to get up."
Our au pair has decided to leave overnight. What do we do now?
- Reactivate your AuPairWorld profile if you already have one, or register again. If your Premium membership has already expired, we advise you to renew it. As a Premium Member, you can exchange unlimited personal messages and contact details with all au pairs.
- Update your profile information. If you live in the EU, it is advisable to look for an au pair from an EU country, as the visa-free status makes things much easier and quicker.
- Take a look at your EasyFind to see the profiles that match your criteria and reach out directly to those you're interested in learning more about.
- Contact us via the contact form or by clicking on the ‘Report profile’ option to share any questions or concerns you have about your previous au pair.
